Here’s What You’ll Need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbs vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • a sprinkle of salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • favorite toppings or dippers
  • vegetable oil – enough for approximately 1″ deep frying oil in medium pan or pot

Preparation for Funnel Cakes:

  • In a medium pot or pan, begin heating your vegetable oil. I use about an inch deep of oil and heat over medium heat.
  • Mix your vanilla, eggs, milk, and water in a mixing bowl, preferable with a pouring spout. If not, mix all ingredients then transfer to a baking squeeze bottle or similar option for thinner funnel cake batter layers.
  • Add in your granulated flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Mix until smooth.
  • When oil reaches 375 degrees, it should create small bubbles when you place the tip of a wooden spoon into it.
  • Carefully drizzle your batter in your desired pattern, overlapping in areas for a true funnel cake look.
  • Allow batter to cook roughly 2 minutes on each side. Allow batter to become golden brown.
  • Remove from oil and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Add any desired toppings and serve!
