Here’s What You’ll Need:

Ingredients for CopyCat Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuit:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsps baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar (I like sharp cheddar)

Butter Topping:

  • 2 1/2 tbsps salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • a few dashes of dry parsley

Preparation:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pre-heat your oven to 450 degrees.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, mix your flour, sugar, salt, garlic powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • Fold in your shredded cheddar cheese.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and buttermilk. The mixture will start forming a few little lumps.
  • Add the liquid mixture to your dry biscuit mixture and blend without over-mixing. You will get a lumpy, textured dough. Be mindful not to overmix your dough.
  • Scoop roughly 1/4 cup balls of dough onto your baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until slightly golden.
  • As you bake your CopyCat Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits, melt butter in a small bowl, then add garlic powder and parsley.
  • Once biscuits are done baking, brush on the butter topping.

Best Tips for CopyCat Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits

Each time I made these, I made a few little adjustments here and there. Here are a few tips I noted along the way:

If you’re a garlic fan like I am, the garlic powder measurements are ideal. However, you may adjust them accordingly if you prefer to tone down the garlic just a tad.

While sharp cheddar tends to be the cheese most cheddar biscuit recipes call for, I prefer to use shredded mild cheese. You will definitely get a bit more “bite” with the sharp cheddar option, so experiment with both and see what your friends and family prefer!

Over-mixing your dough can cause your CopyCat Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits to fall flat, so be careful not to overdo it and you’ll have beautiful, fluffy biscuits!
