Blueberry Pie At Nanas House

We live in southern Kentucky and have a blueberry farm. The farm is called Bellview Blueberry Farm and the land has been in our family for generations. I love blueberries and collect recipes. Usually I make cobblers but I wanted to try something different. What makes this pie unique is the creamy, custard filling.

Blueberry Pie

Because it’s March and blueberries aren’t ready to pick until June, I used 3 cups frozen berries (in each pie). We have a large family and they bring their friends and spouses over, so I always have to double recipes. I’ve been cooking with blueberries a lot the last few weeks. I have a freezer full of blueberries and I want to use them all up before picking season this year. If these pies look good to you and you love blueberries, come visit our farm in June or July and then you can have a freezer full of berries too!

After I take the berries out of the freezer I wash them before putting them in the pie shell. We don’t spray them with anything but I still feel better knowing they are really clean.

Then I made the cream part with sour cream, sugar, flour, salt, 2 beaten eggs. I know, I know, sour cream in a pie sounds weird but I promise it is really delicious!

Blueberry pie

I skimped on the streusel topping because I wasn’t sure the pie needed it. Blueberries are so sweet that very often I can cut back on the amount of sugar I use in a recipe. Next time I make it I may not use a topping. I think it will be good either way.

Blueberry Pie

As you can tell this blueberry pie was well received. I made it yesterday and it’s gone today!  I’ll be posting the recipe on NanaHood’s Facebook page for those of you who want to try it. While you are on NanaHood’s Facebook page I would love for you to LIKE it and be a part of my NanaHood friends, it isn’t just for nanas. Everyone is welcome!

This is a blog hop! Would love for you to link up and comment!
