Lemon Pound Cake Recipe

I love a hot cup of coffee and a sweet slice of lemon pound cake in the morning! While it’s just as tasty as a snack or after dinner dessert, I still enjoy it most for breakfast. There’s something about that little zing of lemon mixed with the sweet, buttery flavors in a pound cake that pair so well with coffee. It’s a must-try recipe this week!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Ingredients for Lemon Pound Cake:

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 5 eggs

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk

Preparation:

  • Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees and lightly grease a 9×5 loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, eggs, and sugar.
  • Add in flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.
  • Add sour cream and lemon juice and mix well.
  • Pour into loaf pan and bake for 60 minutes or just as it starts to turn golden brown.
  • Cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Combine powdered sugar and water to form glaze and pour on top before serving.
