4th of July Celebration and a Flag Cake
4th of July Celebrations don’t have to be on the 4h. Our community actually celebrated last night. I’ll share some photos from the celebration but first I wanted to tell you about my daughter’s Flag Cake or Fluff, as some people call it. Whatever you call it, it is a cool and refreshing dessert.
My daughter was going to a dinner at a friend’s house and took this cake. Not only did it look great, it tasted wonderful.
There’s something about a light dessert that’s appealing when the temperature soars. This one is refrigerated and tastes refreshing on the hottest of days.
Strawberry or Peach Fluff
Use pre-made angel food cake or make from scratch. Break cake up in bite size pieces. Mix pieces with small cool whip tub.
Press in 9×13 dish
Blend with mixer:
1/2 Cup sugar
Large tub cool whip
8oz cream cheese
Layer on top of angel food cake mixture
Cut up two containers of strawberries.
Mix strawberry ready to use glaze pouch, 16 ounces, with strawberries and pour on top
Keep in refrigerator for 1-2 hours. Serve cold.
Because we are blueberry farmers we couldn’t help but add a few to the mixture and it made a beautiful flag cake!

Now for some photos of our 4th of July celebration which was actually celebrated on July 2nd.
We always go to our blueberry farm and the view from the cabin at the pond never disappoints.
There was lightning in the distance and we were afraid it was going to rain but the sky turned an orange gray color and even though there was some lightning, no rain ever came.
We had lots of good food and some father/son fishing lessons.
One little girl caught a fish and after all the children inspected it they through it back.
We enjoyed having lots of friends over to watch the firework display from a nearby park.
It was such a fun night, even though it was a typical Kentucky summer night: hot, muggy and full of bugs!
