Attack of the Giant Tomato

Giant Tomato

We have gone straight from blueberries to tomatoes. There are a few berries lingering around, just enough for a cobbler. It didn’t last long enough for me to make a photo of the whole pie! Most of you know how to make cobblers the easy way, but just in case there is anyone who doesn’t you can find the recipe here.

We have a greenhouse full of tomatoes and I’m picking them as fast as they ripen.

When I was a little girl my grandmother peeled tomatoes for me and then sprinkled a bit of sugar on them to get me to eat them. Now I wouldn’t dream of peeling them or putting anything on them! They are so flavorful!

Today when I went to pick this giant tomato attracted my attention. I had to use both hands to pull it off. It didn’t really attack me but I had to plant both feet firmly, grab it and yank hard to get it off the vine. Yes, it’s really two grown into one but it almost looks like a heart, doesn’t it?

After I got home from the greenhouse I looked out at the sky and it was filled with color. I love sunsets, don’t you?

I hope you are having a great week and that you will link up and share what you have been up to! I apologize if it takes me awhile to respond to your comments but I always eventually get to them and I LOVE hearing from you!

Your tomatoes look delicious! There is nothing like a fresh summertime tomato. The hard pink ones they sell at the supermarket in the wintertime shouldn’t even be allowed to be called “tomatoes”.

That is an amazingly big tomato! Wow! I can’t grow tomatoes, or other warm loving vegetables here, as our nights get too cool to promote their growth. I miss having tomatoes off the vine.
