Foggy Morning Thoughts

Foggy Morning

One morning I was driving to work and the fog was so thick I could hardly see where I was going. Because my vision was limited I drove slowly and focused on safety.

The sun was trying it’s best to shine through the dense fog and it occurred to me that God is like the sun. He’s always there even when we can’t see him. Sometimes the fog or clouds obscure our view, but he never abandons us.

Humans, on the other hand, sometimes choose to walk through fog. If we find ourselves struggling and weighed down with the worries of the world maybe it is because we have chosen the wrong path, the one that leads away from the sun and into the darkness.

Faith

Fog makes things hard to see and a lot of folks have trouble believing in what they can’t see. Does the fact that we can’t see the sun at times mean that it isn’t there? Of course not. We have no trouble believing that the sun will shine again and that it’s still in the sky where it’s supposed to be. Why then do we doubt God?

There are lots of reasons for lack of faith but only one cure….spending time with our Lord through reading the Bible and prayer.

Lots of people profess to believe in God but don’t spend time with Him. Think of it this way, if you have ever been to a class reunion and seen people you went to school with years ago you might say you know them, but do you really? You might recognize them (hopefully they wear name tags or that might be hard) but if you haven’t spent time with them, talked with them and shared your thoughts and feelings since you graduated….you probably don’t know them too well.

The creator of the universe wants to know you. That should be an honor! He loves you so much He sent His only son to die for you and He wants you to know Him, too.

You Don’t Have to Walk Alone

Life is a journey and walking alone through darkness and fog can be scary. You don’t have to be alone. Make the time to get to know Jesus. He lived an amazing life, died an agonizing death on the cross and rose again. He’s coming back one day and that’s why it’s important to get to know Him now.

We sing a song at church called, “Won’t it be wonderful there.” The next line says, “having no burdens to bear.” This life is full of burdens and by the time you reach my age you have lost loved ones to sickness. You know the sorrow of heart ache. You are aware of all the burdens people bear.

None of that will exist in Heaven.

One day the fog will lift. The Son will shine, and we will see clearly.

It really will be wonderful there.

  1. Beautiful essay, Teresa!!! And so very true; we often make things hard for ourselves, when we just need to wait for the fog to lift.
