The Gift of Prayer for My Grandchild’s Path in Life

The Gift of Prayer

If you are like most Americans you’ve been picking out Mother’s Day cards, flowers or gifts for the mothers in your life this week. According to Hallmark, Mother’s Day is the third-largest card-sending holiday in the United States, with 113 million cards exchanged annually. That’s a lot of cards!

I wish my mother was still here so that I could give her a card or a small gift. She’s been gone since 1990 but I know this….she knew how much I loved her. I told her again and again and thanked her for putting up with me during my teen years. She just smiled when I apologized for the grief I put her through and said, “It’s all part of growing up.”

This Mother’s Day

I’m giving my grandchildren’s mothers the gift of prayer. I can’t think of a thing they need more than prayers. In a world where there’s so much uncertainty and hard times for so many…I think prayer is the best gift I can give them. And I pray for ALL moms because we all need the gift of prayer.

I promise to pray each and every day for them and for their children. That’s 365 days worth of prayer.

I pray for the mom’s who have endured a pandemic and juggled home, school, work and not enough sleep for the last two years.

I pray for the moms who have lost their moms recently. Mother’s Day is so hard after your mother is gone, especially the first several years.

I pray for the mothers who had to give their baby back and whose hearts will always remember, will always ache and always yearn for the child they had to give up.

Nana Prayers

This past Friday I was blessed to be able to keep my youngest granddaughter. She fell asleep on the couch beside me and she looked so precious sleeping. She’s not quiet two and there’s something about watching a sleeping child that makes a nana’s heart swell with love.

I sat there on the couch and looked at her little sweet feet and thought about the verse in the Bible about beautiful feet.

My prayer

May all my grandchildren know God and study his holy word. May they all claim Jesus as their Savior and may they praise and thank Him always and lean on Him when times are hard. May their precious feet stay on a path of righteousness and may their lights shine so bright that they bring others to Him. Bless their feet, Dear Father, that they always follow in Jesus footsteps. Bless each of my children and grandchildren journey here on earth that they may they always serve and obey your commands so that one day we can all have a home in Heaven together with You. Amen.

If you are a woman of faith, give your children and grandchildren the gift of prayer. It’s really one of the most important things we can give them. Happy Mother’s Day!

  1. Love this! Mine are older…seems I pray harder sometimes. Thank you for saying this so beautifully.

  2. Oh, I love this, Teresa! I can think of nothing more important to give our children than the gifts of prayer, faith and spiritual direction! Surely the most beautiful (and eternal) gifts of all!
