Savory Chicken Drumsticks
Are you ready to make drumsticks that are so tender they practically fall off the bone? I use to hear all the talk about how moist meals are with an instant pot, and once I gave in, I couldn’t stop cooking everything in it! Now, if you don’t have one, don’t worry – this recipe can be easily adapted for your oven.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Ingredients:
- 8-10 Chicken drumsticks
- 2 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp pepper
- 2 Tbsp cumin
- 2 Tbsp onion powder
- 2 Tbsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp ground mustard
- 2 Tbsp paprika
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey bbq sauce or teriyaki sauce
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
Preparation:
- Combine dry ingredients in a large ziplock bag or mixing bowl
- Lightly brush drumsticks with your chosen sauce (I use very little, but season to your taste)
- Put drumsticks in your bag and shake well or roll them in your large mixing bowl
- Pour broth or water into instant pot and place drumsticks on provided rack or basket (depending on model)
- Slice butter and place randomly on top of chicken
- Place lid on, sealed, and pressure cook on high for 10 minutes
- quick release when timer is complete
- optional- if you have a Ninja Foodi or separate air fryer, air fry for 2-3 minutes for a slightly crisp outside
Drumstick Meal Ideas
We are a big chicken and rice family, so steamed rice is our go-to. If I’m using teriyaki with my drumsticks, I tend to lean towards asian sides, like the rice and pancit noodles. BBQ sauce steers us in the baked beans or mashed potato direction. Whatever flavor you choose, these fall-off-the-bone savory chicken drumsticks will have your drooling for more!
Enjoy!
