Sugar Cookies With Blueberries Added
Who doesn’t love sugar cookies? Warning: If you are on a diet and avoiding sweets you might want to save this recipe. Then later when you go off your diet (probably by March or April) you will be able to indulge in this delicious treat.
My friend Peggy made these and added blueberries and nuts to some of them. She iced some of them and left others plain. Being the good taste tester that I am, I tried one of each (okay, two or three of each) and my favorites were the ones that had blueberries and icing.
My grandmother made sugar cookies when I was a little girl but hers were a flatter, crispy cookie. These are soft and fluffy and delicious!
Grandmas sour cream sugar cookies 1/2 cup butter/lard 2 cups granulated sugar 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2/3 cup sour cream 1/2 tsp baking soda 3 tsp baking powder 4 cups all purpose flour In large bowl with electric mixer beat butter and sugar on high until creamy Add eggs, vanilla, sour cream and beat until smooth Add baking soda, baking powder and flour and beat on low until combined—- dough will be almost like cake batter, this is fine Preheat oven to 350 and line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Drop by tablespoon about 2-3 inches apart and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden and the center is set. FROSTING 1/2 cup butter 2 1 w cups powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla 2 Tbs milk Beat butter until smooth. Add sugar, vanilla and milk beat up till smooth, add in additional sugar and milk to reach desired consistency( you don’t want it too thin) Color if desired and spread on cooled cookies.
And if you are like us and LOVE blueberries, add those and some nuts to make these cookies even better!
Did your grandmother make cookies? What kind do you remember liking the best?

What “sweet” memories!
Not a raisin fan. My mom used to make raisin pie and I’d pick the raisins out!
We used to make sugar cookies with raisins or dried cherries–brings back memories!
Those look amazing! My grandmother never really made cookies, but she was a cake decorator for a while and made the best buttercream icing. It went really well with the peanut butter fudge my grandfather made. Thanks for the memories! Have a great week!
