Creme de Menthe Brownie Bites
I can’t tell you how excited I am for the holidays! 2020 has been a year, hasn’t it? A bit of holiday joy is greatly anticipated in my house, so whipping up holiday recipes will be in full swing soon. And what better way to begin than with a creme de menthe brownie recipe?
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Ingredients:
Frosting and drizzle:
- 1 tub frosting
- 2-3 drops of green gel food coloring
- 1 cup melting chocolates
- 1 Tbsp creme de menthe
Brownies:
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup flour
Preparation:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 and lightly grease the bottom of a 9×9 pan
- Mix brownie ingredients together until smooth
- Bake brownies for 14-16 minutes
- While baking, mix creme de menthe, frosting, and desired coloring drops until color is blended well
- Allow brownies to cool completely before frosting
- Refrigerate brownies for 30 minutes minimum
- Follow your dipping chocolate instructions – typically half-power for 30 seconds at a time, blending in between
- Remove brownies from fridge and drizzle chocolate over the top – this may be done before or after cutting your brownies
Holiday Tradidtion
My mom made a version of creme de menthe brownies every single holiday! When my sister and I were in college, I remember experimenting a time or two with her recipe. Of course, they never turn out the same, but they were still our little holiday treat tradition. Over the years, I’ve made them for my kids as well, since brownies are always a favorite with them.
Decorating Variations
You can always coat your brownies with a full layer of chocolate instead of drizzle. If you do, I recommend a basic chocolate blend, followed by refrigerating to stiffen. I choose the melting chocolates just fo the quick hardening and decorative look. I’ve also doused them with Christmas colored sprinkles as well. Have fun with it and make them your own!
Happy Baking!
