Best Restaurants in Nashville

When you go to Nashville there are plenty of places to eat but there are some restaurants you don’t want to miss. These restaurants were chosen by friends and family who love good food and I know if we love them, you will too! We tried to choose everything from casual to fancy, from pricey to more affordable, and different types of food. I hope you will share our list with your friends and family!

Monell’s – This is southern food served family style. Everyone sits together and eats together at tables loaded with delicious southern fare. A big favorite is the Skillet Fried Chicken. Terri Lou Doyel Royse loves eating breakfast there and this is why….it’s all-you-can-eat Southern fare served family-style. A great breakfast, lots of food and reasonable prices.

Puckett’s – This restaurant ranked high on our best restaurants in Nashville poll. Liz Papania Erwin says, “Love the Piggy Mac at Puckett’s in downtown Nashville – Cherry wood-smoked pulled pork in an iron skillet, topped with white cheddar mac n’ cheese and biscuit crumbs.” Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! How about you?

Adele’s is a partnership among Ken Levitan, Jonathan Waxman and Howard Greenstone of the 1210 McGavock Street Hospitality Partners. The restaurant features an open kitchen with a large fireplace grill, wood-burning oven, white quarter-sawn oak bar, and chef’s counter. The menu focuses on seasonal, accessible comfort food that comes from local farms. The restaurant is open for dinner daily, lunch Friday and Saturdays and now offers a wonderful Sunday brunch buffet. Customized catering options are available as well.

Merchant’s has long been considered one of the best restaurants in Nashville. It is a three story building and is located downtown on the corner of Broadway and 4th Avenue. The ground floor is a black and white bistro which has cocktails, good food, and great service. The second floor of Merchants is open for lunch and dinner has a totally different atmosphere than the bistro. It’s more upscale and has a separate menu from the bistro. It offers exquisite dishes and several wonderful steak options. The third floor is reserved for private dining and is used for rehearsal dinners and cocktail events.

Family Favorite – Love eating at the Pharmacy!

The Pharmacy – In the mood for a burger and a soda? Beth Miller recommends The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden they use 100% Tennessee-raised beef for their legendary burgers and 100% pure cane sugar in their sodas. Looks delicious, doesn’t it?

Loveless Cafe  When you ask a Nashville food blogger to recommend her favorite restaurant and she says, “Loveless Cafe. Go for the biscuits. Stay for the chicken,” you know she knows what she’s talking about. One customer compared their biscuits to his grandmother’s and that’s the kind of cooking you’ll find here. Think of it as your grandma’s Sunday dinner meal, only at the Loveless Cafe you don’t have to wait until Sunday. (FYI-Susan Williams knows food! Check out her blog!)

Mas Tacos Por Favor This restaurant is a favorite because of their tacos. Amy Wilson Neighbors says, “This truly is one of the best restaurants in Nashville! You can order tacos a la carte so you can have as many as you want! Be sure to try the Elote, or Mexican grilled corn while you’re there, you’ll be glad you did. Best tacos in town!”

Urban Grub  Everyone knows someone who is a “foodie.” No matter what city you go to they have a list of restaurants they want you to try. Glyn Steele is that kind of friend and he recommends Urban Grub on 12 South. “Weekend brunch is really special but for dinner, the filet is always a treat. Most people don’t get hung up on the wine. During my years away, I developed a taste for a good red wine with a good steak. You can get both here,” says Glyn. He also recommends Saltine. Very good and it specializes in sea food. A bit expensive but worth it. For burgers and beer, it’s hard to beat M. L. Rose. Great place to watch sporting events on TV.

Five Points Pizza – You can’t talk about restaurants and not mention at least one pizza place. Amy Wilson Neighbors says, “Five Points Pizza in East Nashville had the BEST pizza I’ve ever eaten, New York style pizza, the dough is made from scratch in-house daily.” Who could resist that? Not me!

Kayne Prime was one of Morgan Bell Worley’s picks (also my son-in-law’s fav). Comments about this restaurant were “best filet mignon”, “divine wagyu fillet” and “best steak restaurant.”

Great Barbecue Ain’t Hard to find in Nashville!

Martin’s BarbecueI love good barbecue and evidently so does Theresa D. Clark. “Martin’s barbecue-great dry rub on their wings and oh, those mini moon pies!” I loved the brisket and the casual atmosphere. You can even eat up on the roof if the weather is good. Whether the weather is good or not, the food will be!

Cock of the Walk My friend Sherry Blaydes Keltner says, “Best catfish, white beans, cornbread and fried pickles ever!!” I’m not a fan of fried pickles but I know lots of folks who are and if Sherry says these are the best I believe her!

  8. It sounds like you’ve got the best of a bigger city selection of restaurants along with a southern flavor. I think I’d head straight for the catfish and cornbread especially during Lent. I’m not sure a Pharmacy Burger sounds too tempting but your photo sure is. And I was all ready to go to bed without a snack but now I’m ready to eat. Dang.

  9. I’ve never stopped in Nashville though I have driven through a time or two. So I don’t have a favorite restaurant but I keep trying to get my Husband to move to that area.
