Nashville Road Trip
We live in southern Kentucky and love a Nashville road trip. ย Especially since spring has finally arrived here in Kentucky.
With warmer weather comes the urge to travel and to shop. It was my husband’s birthday so I had the perfect excuse for a short get-a-way.
If you have never stayed at an Aloft, they are different from most hotels. The bed was comfy and the room nice enough. The only complaint I had were tiny coffee cups (we drink a lot of coffee in the mornings) and the Internet wasn’t working ย both mornings I tried to log on, which is why I haven’t posted since last week. This hotel is in Cool Springs, right outside of Nashville, which is a great place to shop.
The Cheesecake Factory
After a delicious meal at The Cheesecake Factory, we went to Cool Springs Galleria. Macy’s was having a big sale and I couldn’t wait to look at spring clothing. Bill wasn’t as excited about shopping as he was about the cheesecake but he took his ear buds and sat patiently while I shopped. Yes, it was his birthday but he insisted he wasn’t interested in shopping and had rather wait for me.
The first department I walked into was the swimsuit department. I hadn’t bought a new suit in years and the ones I have are sort of like me, stretched and faded.ย At first glance it appeared there were lots of choices but by the time I discarded the too skimpy, too frumpy, too expensive, I was left with a grand total of two suits to try on. I sucked in my stomach and headed to the dressing room, hoping that the mirror would be kind.
It wasn’t.
What was I thinking? Never, ever try on swim suits after you have eaten ย at The Cheesecake Factory!
I put the two suits I tried on back on the rack and went to the old lady frumpy section. Then I saw itโฆ.the perfect suit for me!
It didn’t make my stomach flat, but it did help smash the cheesecake in. Purchase number one completedโฆon to the dresses.
I ย found one I liked and decided to try it on.
The material was too form fitting and unlike the bathing suit, it did nothing to flatten my cheesecake. I tried several more dresses on and finally came to the conclusion that I should write a country song about my shopping adventure entitled, “30 Years and 20 Pounds Ago,” because that’s the last time anything fit (or looked) the way I wanted it too. Anyone out there want to sing it with me?
The Husband Shops
We went to several other stores on our Nashville road trip and I kept trying to get my husband interested in shopping. Finally, at the end of the mall he saw something that caught his interest.
ย He loves bargains. Who doesn’t? Now it was my turn to wait. I borrowed his ear plugs, listened to music and people watched while he shopped.
It was a great weekend get away. We vowed to go again soon. Life is short. Eat your cheesecake now. You can always ย buy a Miracle suit later!
It was a fun weekend but for me the highlight of our Nashville road trip was being with my husband (and the cheesecake.)
Tell me about your weekend get-aways. Where do you like to go and what do you like to do? I would love to hear from you!

We like to go wine tasting, Usually to the Finger Lakes in NY state. I think I like the tasting even better then drinking it at home!
Loved the account of the trip…
