Are You A Long Distance Grandmother? You will love this!
If you are a long distance grandmother you will love this. Even if you are not a long distance grandmother, you will still love it. I did!

When I first heard of “Gramma in a Box,” I was a little leery. And so was my granddaughter. Watch this video to see her reaction.
Terry Chamberlin is the brains (and Gramma) behind Gramma In A Box. It sounds strange but it’s a new membership-based subscription service that was conceived when Terry’s grandchildren moved out of state. Instead of sitting down and being despondent she decided to start mailing them boxes of cookies each holiday to decorate while they Skyped. After test marketing the idea and discussing it with family and friends, Gramma in a box was born.
Each month members receive cookies to decorate (with frosting and sprinkles) and two easy candy crafts to make for $20 a month (enough to make up 20 treats each month); or they can purchase the 3, 6 or 12 month prepaid plans at slightly reduced prices.
This is what the box looked like when it arrived at my house. I couldn’t wait to show it to my grandchildren. The first one to show up was my second oldest granddaughter so I brought out the box.
The theme of the May Box was “Metamorphosis” so we looked up a video on YouTube about it and watched it and talked about what it was. Then there were detailed cards with instructions and explanations about making caterpillars, pupas, and butterflies. My granddaughter absolutely loved making them and she and her little brother loved eating them!
She chose the colors she wanted to work with and first she made her caterpillars.
Then she went to work on her pupa. Can you tell by her expression how hard she is concentrating.
We didn’t get to the butterflies yet. We got really busy and just haven’t found the time but we are anxious to complete them!
Was this a fun project? Most definitely! Would I do it again? You bet! I’m not a crafty nana so it’s wonderful that a a crafty Gramma like Terri can put fun things for grandparents to do with their grandchildren in a box! And it’s educational!
If you are a long distance grandparent and you live far away from your grands, why not send them one and then watch them do it over Skype? It’s a fun way to be together across the miles.
And here is some more good news for you…..
You can use the code “10off” to receive $10 off your purchase. If you select the auto debit option then you don’t have to put any code in as the first box will only cost $10.

What a fun idea! I loved your granddaughter’s look on her face when she learned it was ‘grandma’ in a box! So precious!
Well you could do 2 grandchildren at a time. One month two get a box, the next month the next two and so on and so on. Congrats on your 13 blessings!
Super cute! I have 13 grandkids in 3 states so this would be a bit costly for me. LOL.
Let me know if you try it! I’d love to know what you think!
And I bet they love eating them!
thanks for commenting Becky!
Needed to change my blog address.
Sounds like a nice idea. I live 45 min from mine but don’t see them but to celebrate or meet at a park. I like to make them cookies though.
Wow. That sounds very interesting. I send my grandkids cards often. This is a cool idea. Thanks for sharing .
