The Colors of Autumn
For all my friends who don’t get to see the beautiful fall foliage I just have to share with you. I love riding through the country and taking in the scenery and the bright blue skies.
I don’t have to leave home to see the beauty of fall, it surrounds me everywhere I go.
Years ago my grandpa would try to teach me about trees. I was young and not interested. Oh how I wish I had him back to talk about them now. He had a hickory nut tree next to the house and we would gather them up and smash them open for him to pick out the nut. In Kentucky it’s pronounced “Hiccer nut” or that grandpa called them.
I had an uncle who was color blind, but I think it only effected him with blue and red, thus causing trouble at stop lights. I know that not every one has great vision and some aren’t blessed with the gift of sight. Can you imagine not being able to see the colors of autumn?
This was the house my parents took me home to when I was born. I’m sure it looked better back then. No indoor bathroom and 4 basic rooms. I don’t think we lived there long but standing there in front of it I tried to imagine how my 17 year old mother felt bringing a baby to this house.
This looks like a Ginko tree to me. My mother had one and loved it. It is the brightest yellow!
Where ever the road of your life is leading you these days, I hope you slow down and enjoy the journey.
These are beautiful photos. The leaves here in Pa. have just started to turn. I wish it would last a bit longer!
