Inspiring Blogger Award

Most often at NanaHood I write about being a grandparent or how wonderful grandchildren are, but not today. Today I’m thanking my friend Ramona at Create With Joy for honoring me with an Inspiring Blogger award. Thank you so much! I love the link-ups she hosts and I visit her weekly and hope you will stop by and tell her “Hello.”

Inspiring Blogger #1

Elaine Ambrose

about-elaine-272x300

I had the pleasure of meeting Elaine at the BAM Conference and she’s even more fun in person than she is on her blog. Her writing always adheres to what I think is the most important mission of an excellent writer; to make the reader feel something. She makes me laugh with articles like Prom Dress or Pole Dancer  and she makes me cry when she writes about The First Motherless Mother’s Day.

Besides writing for her blog she is the author of Menopause Sucks a national bestseller and Midlife Cabernet – Love, Life & Laughter after Fifty – Silver Medal Winner in the Humor Category from the Independent Publishers Book Awards program (IPPY) for 2014, and First Place Winner for Humor from the North American Book Awards Program.

As if that wasn’t enough she is the author or coauthor of seven other books, and the author of more than 100 magazine articles. She was the editor of McCall Magazine, the associate editor of the Boise Magazine, a manager in the communications department for Boise Cascade, and Idaho’s first female T.V. news reporter and talk show hostess. Elaine created and owns Mill Park Publishing, an award-winning small publishing company that features local authors and donates proceeds from book sales to various charities. A popular speaker at conferences and workshops, she created the “Write by the River” writer’s retreats and other writing workshops in the Boise, Idaho area.

Just In Case You Couldn’t Tell

Elaine is one very talented and funny lady. She inspires me  daily and I hope she’s half as honored that I chose her for this award as I am to call her my friend. Stop by her blog and say hello or visit her at her page on Amazon.com and buy one (or more) of her great books. You will be glad you did!

Next Saturday I will choose another blogger who inspires me! Stay tuned and have a great Memorial Day weekend!
