Blue Heaven, Hemingway and a Sunset

A little over a week ago I was in the Florida Keys where it was warm and sunny. My husband and I had a great vacation. Here are a few of the highlights.

We ate breakfast at Blue Heaven. The omelets were delicious! We ate outside and chickens roamed between the tables and out into the streets. You see them everywhere in Key West.

We toured Ernest Hemingway’s house and met many of his six toed cats (thought to bring good luck, the cats that are there are descendants of Hemingway’s son’s six toed cat) This is Hemingway’s office, where he wrote many of his most famous works. Not sure I could write with that animal head on the wall staring at me but it obviously worked for him!

We walked down to Mallory Square and watched this young man juggle as the sun slipped slowly beneath the horizon.

This shot was made from a bridge looking down at Bahia Honda State Park. We went there three times, carried chairs out to the edge of the water and listened to Jimmy Buffett.

  1. Love your photos, it is so nice to see someplace warm right now. I’ve lived in a few different places in South Florida, visit there often (my mom lives there) but I’ve still never been to the Keys!

  2. Gorgeous! My hubby and I have gone down to Marathon sans kids the last two years in a row. Unfortunately, we don’t plan on going this year. So sad! The kids and I will be in Key West for a day on a cruise in July, but I prefer to go alone with my hubby. Looks like you had a good trip. Have a great week!

  3. What fab photo they are all good so can’t pick a favourite although I’m liking the beach after our cold weather in London

    Have a fantabulosa week 😉
