Frugal Fashion Finds: Style & Co. Jacket – Reflections From the Kitchen Sink

This week’s focus product for Frugal Fashion Friday is this jazzy Style&Co. jacket.

Jacket Details

This jacket’s flair is so much fun! (Check out the zoomed pic to the side.) It has a satiny feel to add some perk to the lush animal like print design. There’s a leather belt at the waist and concealed snaps to polish the look for outdoors. My one catch with the coat is it doesn’t have pockets. As I often prefer to go without a purse, the absence of a handy storage spot is a bit of a bummer, but it’s not enough to make me not love this coat.

Style & Co. At Unbelievable Pricing

Style&Co. is a brand I have purchased many times at Macy’s, so you can count on the quality of material and workmanship to be solid. Of course, I found this jacket in like new condition at a consignment store half-off the already clearance price of 50% off. Regular retail on comparable items is $100. Consignment original price was $49.99. With a little calculator punching, you will figure out I paid $12.50. I can get over no pockets for $12.50.

Accepting Fashion Trends

We won’t price out the rest of the outfit, but I do want to draw your attention to the mix and mingle of the browns. I’m from the generation that had a season of top to bottom uniformity. We all walked around like a solo crayon out of the crayon box for a couple years. Nowadays, variety is where it’s at, and I’m having to stretch out of my comfort zone of matchy-matchy. Lights to darks and a blend of tones…it’s all okay. Even mixing light and heavy fabrics is acceptable most of the time. There are just very few rules, it seems.

I know it’s another jacket, but I had absolutely no problem squeezing in this cute piece into the coat closet!
