Three Amazing Books Your Grandchildren Will Love
Three Amazing Books
Disclaimer-I was gifted in return for a review. all thoughts written here are mine alone.
It’s no secret that I love to read. For those of you who don’t know me well, my mother and grandmother fostered my love of reading. I had a complete set of Nancy Drew mysteries (which I wish I had not gotten rid of) and I devoured them like other kids did candy.
Of course I hope to pass the love of books on to my grandchildren because there are so many benefits!
Recently I ran across three amazing books I think my grandchildren (and yours) would love to be gifted this holiday season.
These are part of the Ready Activated Discover series from Insight Editions. What does that mean? It means these books come alive with amazing sound effects and beautiful pictures that will fascinate your grandchildren.
Here are the three amazing books that I was gifted.
Discover Dinosaurs
I have to admit that I chose this book because I have a 3 year old grandson who loves dinosaurs. Can you tell?

My grandson’s favorite dinosaur is a T. Rex and if you have an Alexa device you can activate the sounds through it. (Device not included but there is a free Alexa app that will work too) You can actually hear what a T. Rex sounds like! And not only that, you can play interactive games and interact with real paleontologists. All three of these books are part of the Ready Activated™ “Discover” series. They transform printed books into interactive, voice-enabled adventures that my grandson is going to love. (Link for more info on Ready Activated™ at end of post)
Because he is only three years old I will be reading the book to him but I can not wait to see his face light up when he hears the sounds and sees all the gorgeous pictures!

The pages in the book are so full of information about dinosaurs that tweens could use it as a reference book. The photographs are so engrossing that even dinosaur fans who can’t read yet won’t be bored. I plan on taking my time when I share this book with my grandson and enjoying every special minute with him.

Discover The Human Body

This book fascinated me and I can’t wait to share it with my tweens. It’s like taking a journey into the human body.

Honestly, I think I slept through my Biology class and I never studied Anatomy so this book has taught Nana some fascinating facts; like how blood circulates throughout the body and which part of the brain helps form memories. There’s a helpful glossary in the back and for those who have tweens there is a tasteful and informative section on reproduction that would be a great conversation starter for parents.
This book also has games and allows readers to talk to experts that are accessible from Alexa or the Alexa app. Your grandchildren have never experienced books like these!

Discover Ancient Egypt
I am a retired history teacher who once loved teaching about Ancient Egypt. I sure wish I had owned this book back then! The making of a mummy section was fascinating and my students would have found this fascinating.

Did you know that the dried-out organs were wrapped in linen and returned to the boy, or preserved in jars but the heart remains in the body? I taught at the high school level and students love facts and photos of “gross” history.
The book details how the pyramids were built and which gods the Egyptians worshipped. This Ready Activated book has games and experts talking that will make readers feel as if they are expert archaeologists. Who knows, this book might plant the seeds of travel and someday they may go see the pyramids themselves!
Three Amazing Books
Just in case you are hesitant to purchase one of these great books as a gift, let me reiterate the importance of reading!
- Engaging with books from an early age fosters cognitive growth, enhances language skills, and broadens horizons. Children who read regularly tend to develop better vocabulary, improved comprehension, and stronger communication abilities.
2. Reading stimulates imagination and creativity, allowing children to explore new worlds and ideas beyond their immediate environment. It also cultivates empathy by exposing young readers to diverse characters and perspectives, fostering understanding and compassion.
3. Academic performance often benefits from early reading habits, as children become more proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, reading provides a constructive and calming activity that can reduce stress and promote mental well-being.
4. Reading not only supports their educational success but also nurtures their emotional intelligence and lifelong love of learning.
Books and reading them are in reality the true gift that keeps on giving!
