The Perfect Gift Requires Really Listening and Knowing the Recipient

Giving the Perfect Gift-Listening and knowing the gift recipient

Once upon a time (I just love stories that start this way, don’t you?) There was a young woman who loved shopping. She shopped for her children and later for her grandchildren. She gifted them with things they loved and they all appreciated her thoughtfulness. What they didn’t realize was that she spent the whole year listening to them and really getting to know what interested them. Then when the holidays rolled around they were all amazed by how she found the perfect gift!

Giving the perfect gift takes knowing the person and sometimes even folks we know very well it’s still hard to think of something because they have everything they want or need. For these folks I highly recommend charitable organizations that allow you to donate in someone’s name. Last night I bought livestock for a family I’ll never meet in another country at Heifer International. A friend did this for me and I loved the idea so I’ve done it for some friends every year since.

Another friend (who I love dearly) can never think of what to get anyone on her list and it’s not because she doesn’t listen…she just can’t remember what they said when it comes time to shop! She’s a super busy person and has way too much on her plate right now so this Gift Giving List is for her and folks like her whose memory might need a gentle prod to think of the perfect gift.

Books

Unless the person you are shopping for hates reading, and some people do, books are my number one choice. Books for children and adults and here is a new one for grandmothers by my friend Lisa Carpenter who blogs at Grandma’s Briefs.

100 Things I Love About Grandma: A Journal - By: Lisa Carpenter

This is the perfect gift for a grandchild to give their grandmother. Inside the book there are easy to read and understand writing prompts appropriate for young children and teens. It’s thoughtful and guaranteed to be a grandma pleaser!

You can find a list of all my favorite children’s books and all my favorite things at my Amazon store.

And if you see anything at my Country Store at Bellview Family Farm you’d like to order, just ask!
