Builders of Hope
Add title
Each year, the Builders of Hope Annual Giving Campaign helps Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) raises much needed funds and awareness for struggling families and children in our communities.
You can read my previous post about Safy here.Let me tell you why I’m passionate about this organization:
- Last year, even as a global pandemic created hardship and uncertainty, SAFY was able to put 3,709 families on a path to creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, sustainable family environment. Poverty and a lack of resources are often considered the best predictors of child maltreatment, especially child neglect. SAFY’s Family Preservation services provide and connect families to services and resources like transportation and allow them to build resilience and keep children safe in their home.
- Foster care is a temporary, short-term arrangement used to keep a child safe while their family heals. Even when foster care is part of a child’s experience, SAFY’s Y-Thrive Program offers them the same opportunities and experiences as other youth in their communities. The youth empowerment program provides foster and/or adopted youth ages 12-18 rich opportunities to develop the life skills that promote self-efficacy and improve their outcomes in the areas of education, job readiness, mental and physical health.
For nearly 37 years, SAFY has created strong communities by advancing its Mission of Preserving Families and Securing Futures. In these challenging times, it’s important to know there are Helpers and Healers that give us Hope.
Can you be that Builder of Hope? Everyone who makes a gift of $50 or more will receive a Rezi Bear, the SAFY mascot polar bear symbolizing strength and resilience. You can either keep the bear for a loved one or donate it to a child experiencing foster care.
