New Year…Not So New Nana
For the past two hours I have been working diligently at the computer trying to post today’s column. Tiffany wrote a wonderful post called “New Year…New Projects”. Unfortunately, I can’t post it for you because as hard as this Nana tries (and I assure you I have been trying!) I have a new computer and believe it or not, it doesn’t work like the old one.
Let me explain….
Right after Christmas last year I decided I needed a new computer. I asked for my families advice on what to purchase and they all assured me that I needed a Mac Book Pro. I bought it, brought it home, fired it up and quickly realized that switching from a PC to a Mac was not going to be a piece of cake. Long story short…I put the Mac in my closet and worked on the old one. I managed to get another years worth of NanaHood posts out of it but this week (ironically almost one year to the day I purchased the Mac) it died.
So now I had no choice but to use the Mac. I got it out of my closet, finally found the charger cord and fired it up and once again I got frustrated because it doesn’t work like my old PC. When Tiffany sent me her column for today I was determined I was going to figure out how to get the links and pictures in the post….but guess what? It’s much, much harder to teach an old dog new tricks.
For those of you who love instruction manuals and tutorials I know you are scratching your heads and saying “Why doesn’t she just read the directions?”
BECAUSE I DON”T EVER READ DIRECTIONS!!! Has that caused me problems over the years? Well, just a few. Okay, lots.
I could tell you that my New Year’s Resolution is going to be to make myself learn to read instruction books, but I don’t want to lie to you.
I will tell you truthfully that I am determined to learn how to use this computer, but it’s going to take awhile. In the meantime, I declare today a national day of mourning for my old PC. May it’s dirty keyboard and cracked screen rest in peace. I miss you PC!
I KNOW what you mean!!! I got a new phone and I won’t even go get it activated, because I am so afraid I won’t be able to call or get calls for a week after I do!!!! I HATE new gadgets!!! You are NOT the only “Old Dog” around girlfriend 🙂 GOOD LUCK!!!!!
I am a mac girl all the way. I am sure I would feel lost with a PC. Hope you get it figured out soon!
I got a new laptop for Christmas with Windows 8 on it, and I can TOTALLY relate! I did go to the book store yesterday and bought a manual though… I read the directions instead of trying to figure it out all on my own… I get frustrated too easily for that! I suggest a manual!!!
