If you are like me and love being with your grandchildren and playing with them, then you know the importance of staying healthy and feeling good. If you don’t feel well it’s hard to keep up! One of my secret weapons when it comes to staying healthy is blueberries!

I have researched the health benefits of blueberries and those beautiful little spheres of blue are a powerhouse when it comes to helping you stay at the top of your game.

 I don’t know about you but all those facts (plus a few more) convinced me that my family should be eating more blueberries! In fact, a few years back we planted several acres of bushes so that we would have plenty and we could share them with our community at the farmer’s markets.
Blueberry Smoothies Rock
One of my favorite ways to eat blueberries is in a smoothie. It’s a great treat any time of day but I love them at breakfast.  I freeze some every year so most mornings I just grab a bag out of the freezer, measure out a cup of them and mix up a delicious blueberry smoothie.

2 frozen bananas
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup sweetened Applesauce
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
1 Tablespoon honey
1/4 cup milk or Almond milk
Peel your frozen bananas and then chop them up so they are easier to put in the blender. Place everything in the blender and mix it up! I like it thick but if you don’t just add a little more milk. Depending on your berries and your taste buds you might want to add a bit more honey. Pour in a glass and enjoy!
