If You’re Happy and You Know It

I haven’t been writing regularly here at NanaHood, there is a very good reason. On December 9th my husband was diagnosed with Covid. I had it, too, but my symptoms were mild. His were not.

I took him to the hospital on December 21 and didn’t see him again for 22 days. On December 26th he was placed on a ventilator. There’s a lot more that happened but I’m thankful to God above that he is now on the road to recovery.

If you or someone you love has been ill for a long time then you know how tough this road is. I’ve been home one time in the last several weeks and don’t know when I’ll get back again.

I have witnessed first hand healthcare heroes working hard to save lives and help their patients in any way they can. For someone who loves the written word and spends a lot of time writing, I am at a loss as to how to describe how hard their job is and how very much I appreciate what they have done for my husband and my family.

Just this morning I heard from a friend whose sister died from Covid complications. She is grieving and there are thousands of families across the globe who are doing the same thing for a family member or friend.

By now you are probably wondering about the title of this post. I haven’t mentioned happiness and yet that’s what the title promised. When tough times come (and eventually they do find everyone) I relish and savor every happy moment.

My daughter sent me this video of our youngest granddaughter and she is pure happiness. Nothing warms a grandparent’s heart like seeing her grandchildren happy. I have watched it at least 20 times since she sent it. I hope it brings a smile to your face (even though you aren’t her nana) and I hope you find a happy moment in your life to relish and savor today.

  1. That is so sweet. You’re right grandbabies can get through even during the hardest of times. I pray for your husband’s continued healing.

  2. Oh my! You’ve been on quite a journey this past month, Teresa! Praising God with you that your husband is now on the road to recovery, but what a fright that must have been. Many around me have lost a loved one to covid already. So far, those in my family who have had it have only had mild symptoms, but you just never can predict. The video made me smile too. I watch the videos too that my daughter sends me of our grandchildren, again and again. They do make me happy. Praying for your husband’s complete recovery!

  4. I love the video! The beauty of a child being happy is so genuine. I hope you and your husband have some very happy moments soon, I’m glad he came out and is recovering.

  5. Oh my goodness, this is so precious! What a little doll your youngest granddaughter is!

You and your husband have been in my daily prayer’s Teresa. I am so happy to hear that your husband is getting stronger every day. Continued prayers for both of you as he heals and for your strength as you are there with him to help. I was an RN who worked in intensive care for many years, so I have an understanding of how hard the medical community works, but even so, dealing with covid has been an exhausting and dangerous challenge. They are heroes!
