This week, I thought I would take a little different tilt and talk about back to school shopping. I know a lot of parents who stress over the financial side of prepping their growing children for the start of school. If anyone understands growing children, it’s Melinda, so I feel your pain. The other side of this coin—pardon the financial pun—is that kids don’t need a lot, so don’t drive yourselves crazy buying too much!

The collection in the photo is a grouping I picked up for a little friend a few days ago. He lives with a single parent who works crazy hours and hadn’t had time to shop. With the start of school right around the corner, I volunteered to help out and grab some things, and I got a haul! Two pairs of jeans, some dressy joggers, four pairs of shorts, three crew tees, two v-neck tees, and two casual wear shirts…a total of 14 items. Mixed in are some great brands, too, including Levi’s, Wrangler, and U.S. Polo Assn.

Are you ready for the grand total?!?

$98.34. Yes, $98.34 for 14 brand new items. This kiddo needs a new pair of tennis shoes and some socks, and he’s set until cooler weather hits. Parents: Do not overspend yourselves buying more than your kiddos even need and put added stress on yourselves for no reason. Truly.
