Frugal Fashion Finds
By Melinda Campbell
Way back before Covid, Teresa and I talked about some ideas that would be fun to add to our mix here on Nanahood.com. Both of us love bargains and love shopping local, so blending those ideas seemed fun. We really have gobs of cool concepts that we will continue to work on, but for now we will start with Frugal Fashion Friday! I threw the idea out on my personal social media pages and have had a great response, and Teresa thought our Nanahood family might like it, too, so here we go…
Fashion Fun
This shirt, jeans, and shoes grouping would retail in the $150-160 range. While each of those pieces was a bargain, my fave is the jeans from Buckle I picked up for $12…no joke—$12…AND they are long enough for me! (My inseam is in the 34”-37” range depending on my shoe choice…not easy to find!) The animal print top is trendy and classic all rolled into one, and the brushed flannel felt great with the chilly morning. The shoes are super cute and comfy with a chunky heel you can’t see…oops… We maybe aren’t in the groove of all this yet which might be why you can see the grill and hornet spray in the background ? We do know how to bargain shop though!! I failed to mention all three of these finds added up to just under $20 ?
More Bargains!
I know it’s past Labor Day, but winter white doesn’t count, right? I absolutely love sheath-style dresses because (1.) they work on my tall body and (2.) I’m a Jackie O. fashion fan ? A lot of the trendy dresses have lines and seams that just hit tall girls in awkward spots. You never have to worry about that with more classically styled pieces.
This sleeveless linen dress from Talbot’s is an easy seasonal transition piece as it can be partnered with cardigans for early morning or late afternoon chilly temps. The simplicity of the color and style let me have a little fun with my INC heels embellished with pearls and some shiny bronze stones.
Retail on the dress and heels was about $250, but I got both for $40! The dress was new with the $149 tag on a clearance rack at an upscale consignment, and the $90ish shoes were from one of my favorite shoe stores Marti and Liz.
I love good quality, and I definitely love finding quality pieces and great prices!
Okay, maybe I was in a mood with this week’s outfit. ? It happens…
For people who don’t live in rural America, Tractor Supply Company may not be on their short list for clothes shopping. Well, it’s not on mine either, but I was there and can’t pass up a clearance rack. Good thing! I would’ve missed these cool pants!
These work pants are flannel-lined!! I know, right? Bit and Bridle is a quality brand, and discounted to $24, these pants were coming home with me.
The attitude shirt and baseball cap were just icing on the cake at $10 and $5 respectively. I mean, who could pass on a salty heifer reminder? TSC for the win!
The fun boots are another of my Marti & Liz finds. Indigo Rd. leather trendsetters about 40% off retail. They will be a great addition to my every day mom jeans and sweaters look this winter.
For about $80, there’s a head-to-toe look that will piece out many times, but I’m telling you, the T-shirt is my fave ?
