And I Think to Myself What a Messed Up World
Messed Up World
Louis Armstrong would be sad that I changed the words to his beautiful song, “What a Wonderful World”. I’m sorry, Louis, but things right now are totally messed up and it looks like no one knows how to fix it.
I went to the dentist today and before he worked on my tooth we had a long talk about the sad state of affairs in our country.
School shootings. Random murder on a bus. Shooting of an influencer. And I could go on and on. It seems like this nation has an abundance of mental illness and hate.
When did we stop respecting each other? When did it become okay to be happy that someone we disagree with gets murdered?
I just don’t understand the level of hate that exists today.
I don’t have answers for the problems we face as a nation but I do know this, if we can’t find a way to all get along and discuss our problems…..we are doomed. A nation divided against itself cannot stand.
What Can We Do?
If you are a praying person…..start praying more often.
If your heart is full of hate for those who think differently than you do, talk to a therapist and find peace. Don’t act on your feelings.
Remember the rule my grandmother taught me….if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything at all.
I started this post with a song and I want to end it with one. I think you will recognize the lyrics.
God Bless America,
Land that I love
Stand beside her,
And guide her,
Through the night
With the light from above,
From the mountains,
To the prairies,
To the ocean,
White with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
Let’s find a way to get along, friends, before it’s too late!
