Talk to the Flag
A few days ago I was at my son’s house, standing on the front porch, when Abby came outside to talk to me.
Abby is five (soon to be six) and she is never at a loss for words.
“Nana,” she said, “Did you see the flag daddy put up?”
“I did,” I answered. “It looks very nice.”
Abby put her hands on her hips.
“Well, Nana,” she said impatiently, “What do you say to it?”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“You know,” she said, as she placed her hand over her heart and looked at me as if had just flunked out of kindergarten.
“Oh yes, of course,” I said and put my hand over my heart.
Together on my son’s front porch we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Next time I see a flag I will remember what I’m supposed to say to it!
I am sure my granddaughter would be pleased!
That is so cute!
Have a safe and happy holiday!

Good for Abby! Out of the mouth of babes! I hope she remembers that years from now…honor the flag for what it stands for! Hop over to my blog and see my tribute for the 4th of July. Have a good holiday!
I love this…good for Abby!! (keeping Nana on her toes!!)
I like this. We take our flag for granted so very often. I will also remember to say HI!
That’s great! You must have been so proud!
