Gratituesday-This Win Is For You!

Tuesdays posts are always about gratitude. Many, many Tuesdays I have a hard time deciding what to write about because I have so very much to be thankful for. Today is not one of those days. Today I know what I am thankful for and it happened last Saturday night.

When you look at this picture you probably think, “That’s nice. Her boys play on a team that won a basketball tournament.” And you would be right, sort of.

The two really tall guys are my twins and they played well and I am oh, so proud of them, but the real story about this picture and the gratitude is about the guy holding the trophy, Logan.

You see, one day at ball practice a little over a year ago, Logan came home complaining about a pain in his leg. The pain turned out to be cancer.

Today Logan is cancer free and has a bright future ahead of him, but that future doesn’t include basketball. His doctors told the family early on that for the rest of his high school years he is not allowed to play ball.

Saturday night was a big win for a small school in a rural area. The fans were ecstatic. The ball team pumped up. But for Angela and Teddy (my friends and Logan’s parents) the night was bittersweet.

The whole team watched as Logan helped cut down the net. The crowd roared as the Hornets were awarded the trophy. Then the boys took the trophy and handed it to Logan. My heart swelled until I thought it would burst.

This wins for you, Logan, with gratitude to God above for getting you through the treatments and healing you so that you can have that bright future I mentioned earlier.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
