When your oldest grandchild graduates from high school

When your oldest grandchild graduates

I was the first grandchild on both sides of the family. My granddaughter, Abby, was also the first on both sides. She is the reason I started NanaHood over a decade ago. Next week she graduates from high school and I have an old, familiar feeling in the pit of my stomach. The feeling that comes before an emotional event that makes me blubber.

Some people cry at weddings and some of us cry at all events that elicit emotion. I’m one of the latter.

There aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to illustrate how much I love this girl.

She has a heart of gold and is special in so many ways.

To say she is loved and adored by many would be an understatement.

We have so many memories with her that replay in my mind.

Like the time she fell out of the golf cart and peeled the hide off her knee.

All the vacations we’ve taken with her created so many memories.
She has been the source of so much joy!

Memories of Halloweens and taking her trick or treating.

She’s pleased with her costume. Can you tell?

Her big personality always kept us entertained.

She has been loved and adored since the moment she was born.

No matter where we are she always makes me so proud that she’s my granddaughter.

She always makes me feel better when she’s around.

What does her future hold after her high school graduation? I don’t know but I’m excited to find out!

I’m sorry (not really) for sharing so many photos of her but it’s a grandmother’s prerogative to brag on their grandchildren.

Some smart person once said that the days go by slowly but the years pass so fast, and they are definitely right.

Happy graduation Abby. Please know that whereever you go….our love goes with you. Nana

P. S. I may have cried while working on this post….
