Wedding Shower for Newlyweds
A Wedding Shower for our son and his bride is the subject of this weeks blog hop.
One of our twins recently married and I wrote about it on a post called Our Son’s Wedding.
In case you don’t remember how beautiful it was you can either go to the previous post or I’ll remind you with the following picture.
This past weekend my wonderful sister-in-law and church family hosted a post wedding shower for them. It was so much fun to have their friends, the bride’s family and our family together again.
When Bill and I married in 1980 all the wedding showers were girls only. Now many times it’s couples and friends and I think that makes it special.
My sister-in-law and my church family are wonderful cooks and there was enough food there to feed an army. I’m not sure how many people were there but I’m guessing at least 50.
I wish I had gotten a picture of the food before we devoured most of it but this picture will give you an idea of the lavish spread!
And then there were gifts to open. Watching the newlyweds open presents was a little surreal for me. It seems like yesterday I was bringing the twins home from the hospital to meet their sister and two brothers. Now they are grown and three of my five children are married. Time really does fly, doesn’t it?
It was a great night and we appreciate everything our family and friends have done to help make the newlyweds feel special. I’m pretty sure they feel the same way!
This is a #bloghop Would love for you to linkup and leave a comment!

Ah, once again congrats to them! I remember that blog post and the sweet story. May they have many years of joy, love, and laughter.
Thanks, Patrick! Have a great day!
Thanks, Mitch!
I can’t claim any responsibility for the food (other than eating). It was awesome!

Congratulations on your son’s wedding. I like the idea of a post-wedding shower. It looks like you were cooking all day.
I wish them every happiness.

What a wonderful opportunity to share with friends, I too had an all girls shower before the wedding, my daughters did as well but by then their spouses and friends were included. Happy Holiday week coming!
What nice photos and family 🙂
Congratulations to them both 🙂
Have a maritaltastic week 🙂
I have only been to two jack and jill showers and I just love the idea of taking a traditional wedding shower and bringing all the spouses along. I think it makes for such a festive/ party feel and the majority of the gifts are for the couple to enjoy. Looks like everyone had a great time and that is a wonderful spread of food.
Thank you so much Carol!
The couple did not have any showers prior to the wedding due a shortage of time. He proposed. She said yes. Wedding 3 weeks later! This was the only occasion they were gifted!
I’ve never heard of a wedding shower. Is it to open the gifts from the wedding or you give more gifts?
You’ve been blessed with a beautiful family. Congratulations on the new family addition of your daughter-in-law.
