Complications

Last night was so much fun… but there were a few complications.

While trying to help my oldest granddaughter get into her witches costume the zipper on her boot broke.  The youngest granddaughter and her parents were waiting for us up town (or so I thought) and there was no time to go back home and get different shoes. My husband had tape in his golf bag in his car so we taped the witches boot together, proving once again that Duck Tape is invaluable.

Left to right: Jewell (friend), oldest granddaughter, youngest granddaughter and daughter!

We made it to town, dried the witches tears (she was stressed over the boot incident) and found our daughter but her husband had to go back to the house. They had forgotten Kennedy’s costume!

Kennedy’s cow costume made her too chubby to fit in the car seat so my daughter took it off, put everything else in the car and forgot the costume!

I have to add that I am thankful they remembered the baby and left the costume at home as opposed to the other way around!

We waited and as you can see the girls all eventually were dressed and ready to go. However, by the time we got started most of the merchants (who pass out candy on the square) and trick or treat kids were gone. The baby didn’t care but the older granddaughter was in tears (again).

“Nana, I don’t have much candy in my pumpkin,” she wailed.

I assured her that we could fix that. So off we drove to my old neighborhood (where I trick or treated many, many years ago). After another hour of getting in and out of the car and chasing Abby’s witch hat every time the wind blew it off her head, we finally got her pumpkin full.

Life is full of complications and problems ( big and small ).  A roll of Duck Tape and a pumpkin full of candy can’t solve them all….but it’s a start!
