The Powers of Pinterest

Powers of Pinterest

Pinterest. It’s so much more than beautiful images and fabulous recipes. Don’t get me wrong….I’m on Pinterest for those reasons too – but did you know there are over 250 million viewers exploring Pinterest each month? Understanding that Pinterest is a visual search engine rather than another social platform may help you realize it’s an opportunity to build your brand. I’d say it’s time to take advantage! If you’ve already set up your brand on Pinterest, are you reaching your target audience? Are your pins standing out in the sea of never-ending pins? Have you taken the time to outline your Pinterest management strategy? If you’re looking for ways to drive more traffic to your blog or products, ask yourself if you’re covering all your bases on Pinterest!

Defining Your Ultimate Goals

If you haven’t yet, take a few minutes to think about who your target audience is. What actions are you wanting them to take when they come across your pins? Are you sharing advice? Providing delicious recipes? Do you sell handmade items or offer courses? Pinterest is a platform with room for everyone, but defining your target audience and your call to action will help you stay focussed and breeze through your content planning and pin design. (more to come on those topics!)

Keywords

Even though it’s a visual search engine, it’s important to keep in mind that your keywords are just as important as your content and pin design. Select words that are the most relevant to your blog post or product and use them in your pin titles and descriptions. And use those hashtags! Start by using a few words that best represent what you’d like to be found in the search bar for. Need a jumping off point? Put yourself in the shoes of your reader. What words would you use to search for your recent blog post or product?

Did you know your keywords on Pinterest can also help boost your SEO (Search Engine Optimization)? If you’re in need of a refresher or bit more background on SEO and the crucial role it plays, have a look at these helpful blogging tips. Creating a steady routine of powerful keywords and attention to SEO can do wonders for your traffic!

Be Consistent

Be consistent with your pinning. Even if you don’t have time to pin regularly, at least pin consistently! Create a simple schedule that works well for you, even if it’s a couple mornings a week. Start slow and build up your routine if you need to. You’ll find your groove!

Be consistent with your branding. Keep in mind that most Pinterest users are on their phones, sometimes during a quick break or lunch hour. If you only have seconds to catch their eye as they scroll through their feed, how will you ensure your pins are easily recognizable?

Set aside some time to look over your Pinterest habits. Try implementing a few of these ideas you may not have tried yet. And stay tuned for more Pinterest updates coming soon!
