The Importance of Teeth and Gum Care -

As we get older our health care gets more time consuming. By the time I have made and kept all my doctor and dentist appointments I need a two week vacation! More often than not the appointment I dread the most is the one to the dentist, and yet I know that if I want to keep my teeth (and who doesn’t) I have to take care of them. If you are like me and need a reminder as to why it’s important to take care of your teeth and gums here is a great article I found that lists 10 reasons why you should take care of them. I’m going to print it and stick it on my refrigerator as a reminder of the importance of dental care!

Recently I was contacted by the good folks at GUM and asked if I would review their EasyThread dental floss. It is advertised as “Stiff ended threader ideal for bridges, crowns, implants and orthodontics.” I have enough crowns that I ought to be queen of something so I said, “Sure, send me a package,” and they did.

Number 2 on the list I linked to above is gum disease, and trust me on this one, you don’t want gum disease. Just ask anyone who has had it, it’s bad news.

The article says in part, “Gum disease is one of the leading causes of adult tooth loss. If diagnosed early, it can be treated and reversed. If treatment is not received, a more serious and advanced stage of gum disease may follow. Regular dental cleanings and check ups, flossing daily and brushing twice a day are key factors in preventing gum disease.”

This product was great for my crowns but I couldn’t help but wishing that I had had some of this floss back when I wore braces. I actually wore them twice and believe me, this would have been handy! The stiff ends make it so much easier to use than any other kind of floss I have ever used.
