What’s So Special About Your 32nd Birthday?

Today is my daughter’s 32nd birthday and she made the comment to me, “We don’t have to do anything for my birthday, Mom. There’s nothing special about 32.”

WRONG. 32 is special.

You don’t remember when you were 7 months old and almost died from spinal meningitis, but I do. I still remember kneeling beside your hospital crib and praying (begging) God to let me keep you. He answered those prayers and I’ve been thanking Him every day since and adding a double thank you on your birthday.

Every year (every day) you have been here on this earth is special. You and your brothers are my life’s greatest accomplishment. You are my way of changing the world and making it a better place. Because of you I have a wonderful son-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren. Because of you I came to know and love your husband’s family and consider them good friends. Because of you your work place and your neighborhood are made brighter and cheerier.

You don’t even realize the influence you have on those around you, and that is one of the things I love most about you.

You went from being my baby, to my little girl, to an independent teenager, to my best friend and you have filled the last 32 years with hundreds, if not thousands, of memorable moments.

So don’t every think 32 isn’t special. Every single day we live is special and so are you. Cake and ice cream will be served this weekend along with our families ear-tingling rendition of Happy Birthday (bring ear plugs).

Happy 32 daughter! You are so special and so loved!

  7. Hi Teresa,
This is my first time here and the title of your blog drew me in. I, too, am a Nana to 8 little people whom I adore. They live faraway though, thus the title of my blog–a name I resisted until God dealt with my heart. I also found it interesting that I have a 32 year old daughter and a 30 year old daughter who turned 30 on May 23rd! The same birthday as your 32 year old best friend. 🙂 What a great post about making every year count. I’m happy to meet you! http://thefarawaynana.blogspot.com
