Family Vacations and Making Memories
If I were home I would probably post a recipe today, but I’m not home (if you are a burglar my security system is on!) I am on vacation and so I’m blogging about the beach, the sun, and the family fun that comes from being on an almost deserted island. No joke, there are very few locals on this island and almost no tourists. It’s an island full of Kindreds, sea gulls and a few crabs (and occasionally crabby Kindreds)
This morning everyone was still asleep and out of the blue a very loud siren went off. I opened one eye and asked Bill what he thought it was. “They are either testing the hurricane warning signal or the donuts are done at the bakery.” We rolled over and went back to sleep.
Yesterday we went to the Estuarium and saw all sorts of sea life. As you can see Abby liked the turtles.
There was a room for little children complete with a toy ship.
He isn’t a child but he still enjoyed acting like one.
They also had a section on underwater exploration.
Isn’t she a cutie?
Then we went to dinner last night. You will be happy to know Gabe didn’t eat more oysters.
He had crab legs. My nephew, Thomas, loves them too and wanted to order them but was afraid he wouldn’t get full. It was “All you can eat,” night at the restaurant. How do you NOT get full at an “All you can eat?”
This is Justin’s friend Jesse, who is with us too. Justin was in the picture but I cropped him out because he was acting goofy. (Sorry Justin, next time say “cheese” like I told you to.)
I realize that showing you my family vacation pictures is a little like inviting you over to watch home movies. You are probably yawning and wondering how many more days we have on this island. The answer is just a few, but you’ll just have to put up with me until then. You see, I’m a firm believer that family vacations are a wonderful way to make memories, which is a part of the job description that goes with being a mom and a nana.
Which reminds me, be sure and check the NanaHood store occasionally for updates. Soon we will have a shirt available about “Making Memories” and some other cool stuff too!
Gotta go make some tracks in the sand with my granddaughter!
