Love is a Verb

Love is a verb-Don’t just “tell” someone you love them. Show them!

This weekend our church cooked and served over 90 meals to members in our community who were either sick, unable to get out much, or just lonely. As always I felt more blessed by giving than receiving. It was so rewarding to visit with people I hadn’t seen in awhile and offer them a home cooked meal. And what makes it even better is that the children at our church were involved in the preparation of the meal.

Sharing some photos of the preparations.

This little fellow was too young to help so he played with a cow puppet. He seems to be wondering “What’s in a cow’s mouth?”

The kids also decorated the bags the cookies were placed in. They used lots of hearts as a reminder that Love is a Verb. What we do matters more than what we say.

  1. What a labor of love! It is always a great lesson for children to learn that they can help. My father told us he remembered his church left a basket of food on the front porch of his home every holiday as his mother was a young widow with two young children.

  2. Hi Karren! Hope you are doing well. I think of you often and know that the first year….is the worst year. Blessings to you!

  3. How awesome that you were the tangible love of God to those in your community! We can trust that is always pleasing to God. Showing love is better than just saying it any day! (but we need to do both) 🙂

  4. That is so precious and wonderful to think of others over Valentine’s weekend. I believe in raising kids that will embrace volunteerism. Thanks for sharing and spreading love!
