Heartache, Loss and Devastation

How can anyone watch the news and not be moved to tears for those who are suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy?

All this month I have been blogging about breast cancer and while I know so many women whose lives have been altered by this disease, I know that the world is full of pain and suffering.

One of my favorite quotes is, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do. ”

Every day we are given opportunities to help others in need. Every day new challenges and problems touch our lives and the lives of our friends and neighbors.

One of the needs mentioned is the need for blood. The American Red Cross had to cancel hundreds of blood drives. That’s one thing that I know I can do…and I plan to do. I also plan to make a contribution. In case you want to too, just click the link provided in this paragraph.

  5. It’s hard to imagine unless you’ve lived it. I’ve been in 2 major hurricanes and the aftermath isn’t captured in pictures very well. I pray these people make it through.

  6. We have family living right in the storm path but they have all faired OK. My thoughts are with those people who were not so lucky.

  7. Fortunately we were unscathed by Sandy, thank God. We have power here at our house, but surrounding towns do not and will not for days. I can’t imagine what people are dealing with up and down the Jersey shore. We live only 45 minutes away.
