Day 29 – The Visible Image
Day 29 of 30 Days of Thanks
“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see–kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.”
When our twins were in second grade I was driving them home one day from school. It was about to rain and the wind was blowing. The trees along side the road were bent from the wind.
“Why are the trees bending over?” one of our boys asked.
“Because the wind is blowing them,” I said.
“But you can’t see the wind,” he reasoned.
“That’s true,” I said, “You can’t.”
“I guess it’s like God,” he said, “You can’t see him either but you can see what he does.”
Our twins will be 22 next month so it’s been a long time since that conversation but I have never forgotten it. We don’t see God but we see what He does and He sent His son to walk among us.
Giving thanks today for the visible image of the invisible God!
