Ain’t no mountain high enough
Probably when you read the title to this post you thought about Marvin Gaye or maybe Diana Ross. My favorite version was the one done by Diana Ross and the Supremes. During my teen years I vividly remember rolling the car windows down and belting out the lyrics with Diana. (Be thankful you weren’t around to hear my version!)
So why am I mentioning this song? If you know the lyrics you know that the purpose of the song is to show that nothing can keep two people in love apart.
Now read these verses: “…overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us. I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 37-39)
Yes, this is a different kind of love than the song is speaking of, but it’s a love even stronger than the one Marvin and Diana were singing about. It is a love as perfect and fresh as a newborn baby, as powerful as the winds that blow in the storms from the seas, as magnificent at the Grand Canyon, and as beautiful as a rainbow.
This is the kind of love that lasts forever. It is the kind of love that will help you weather the storms of life and walk you through the valleys. God’s love is truly a forever kind of love and for that I am so very, very thankful.
