Book Review-So This Is How Being a Grandmother Feels

Before you became a grandmother you probably wondered what being a grandparent would feel like. Perhaps you wondered if you could love a grandchild as much as you loved your children? Maybe you asked yourself where this love would fit in your already full heart?

If you are a grandmother you know the answers to those questions but if you aren’t one yet, now you don’t have to wonder about how it feels.

Chris Shea’s delightful little gift book takes the guessing out of the equation. Whimsical illustrations coupled with sweet prose describes the path our hearts take when we fall in love with our grandchildren.

book Being a Grandmother

The author is a creator of Lifesighs, which is a popular line of greeting cards. This book is published by Andrews McMeel and can be pre-ordered on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. The book is due out in October.

This is a small gift book perfect for new grandmothers. Or if you just found out you are expecting a baby why not wrap one up and use it to announce to your mom that she is about to be a grandmother!

I read it cover to cover and was impressed with the beautiful art work and lively prose. I loved it and I’m betting you will too!

  1. I remember when our daughter, our firstborn child, was born, my husband called my mom. He said “Hi Grandma.” First time she was speechless….fun! I enjoy being a grandma to our son’s two adorable children. One person told me being a grandparent is another layer of love. Sounds the book is great! Not seen it. Thanks for sharing!

  4. That is a great idea! I’ll pass it along to my kids to use on me (when the time comes….many, MANY, years from now! :p

As soon as we found out our first child was coming, my husband went to the phone without a word. I wondered who he was calling. When I heard him say, “Hi, Grandma,” I knew he was calling his mother. (I could just imagine her ‘falling out’ on the other end of the line!) It was GREAT!

When we ‘announced’ our daughter, our oldest (then 4) handed his “Grammy” a bag with a pink onesie in it. She pulled it out and asked, “What’s this?” Our little boy said, “It’s for my baby sister!” Grammy about fell off the couch. :O)
