4 Great Books You Should Read
4 Great Books
I love to read but lately I’ve really been on a binge. I’ve read 4 books in a couple of weeks. I’m a fast reader; to the point where my family thinks I’m really not reading every word. I assure you that I look at good books like I do a good steak….I savor every bite. The problem with finding 4 exceptionally good books is that I literally have been in another world (4 other worlds) since I began devouring these books. I get lost for hours at a time and while I’m loving my reading experience, there is a down side. I’m not getting anything else done. As much as I’ve enjoyed these books, and I really have enjoyed them, I have to stop binge reading for awhile. There is life beyond books. Right?
Educated; a Memoir by Tara Westover
I loved reading biographies when I was in grade school. Just knowing that a real person lived the life I was reading about made the book special. Educated is the true story of Tara Westover’s life and what a life she has led! Born and raised in poverty, Tara did not attend school until she was 17 years old. Her parents were Mormon survivalists and her mother was a midwife. Tara’s story is a fascinating tale of facing one hardship after another and finding the strength within herself to not only survive, but to thrive. How Tara, who was raised by parents to mis-trust everything related to the government, eventually finds the courage to leave her home in Idaho to get an education is amazing.
I couldn’t put it down.
Due Process by Scott Pratt
This is the 9th in the Joe Dillard series by Scott Pratt. I love Mr. Pratt’s books, in part, because I love Joe Dillard. He’s smart, brave, and a family man who loves his wife and children. After 9 novels you might think the author might struggle to find an exciting plot or that the characters might lose some of their sparkle. Wrong. Joe Dillard and the rest of the characters in the book are just as exciting and believable in this book as they were the first time I met them.
I couldn’t put it down.
Home by Harlan Coben
This one is also a series and this is the 11th book about Myron Bolitar, a former sports star turned detective. I love Myron as much as I do Joe Dillard but they are very different characters. Myron is a family man too, but he isn’t married. His family ties are to his parents, who he adores and his friends, who are some of the most interesting, unique characters I’ve ever read about. All Coben’s books are exciting who-done-its, with twists and turns in the plot the reader doesn’t see coming. This book is as good as the others in the series and if you haven’t read them, start with book number one. You’ll enjoy getting to know Myron.
I couldn’t put it down.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
Someone, I think it was my Aunt Kate, recommended I read this book several months ago. I was busy and forgot about it until my binge reading started. Then I remembered it. The language in this book reminds me of Educated, simply because both authors have a way of stringing words together that makes you feel like you are reading poetry instead of a novel. Reading this book is like hearing someone sing a beautiful song for the first time, it takes you on a magical, musical journey while keeping you engrossed in the characters and wondering what happens next.
Sigh, I couldn’t put it down.
I don’t know what the odds are that I would find 4 extraordinary books in a row that would consume me for weeks, but I do know that it doesn’t happen often. Thank goodness. My family would never get a meal and the laundry would be higher than the ceiling.
This is a Blog Hop and I would love for you to leave me a comment, but whatever you do don’t tell me about a great book you’ve read because if you do I just might have to check it out.
And then I might not be able to put it down.

Hey Julie! Please say hello to your mom for me! I’m glad she loves books. I do, too. My mom was a 6th grade reading teacher (lost her to cancer in 1990) and she LOVED to read. Thanks for visiting and for sharing about your mother. Hugs! Teresa
Good! Let me know what you think after you read them!
I want to read the first one and the second one. They are both on my list!
I love book suggestions because my mom, trapped in a motorized chair all day, is a voracious book lover and constantly asking me to download new books for her to listen to. I will use these! Thank you. I’m reading Educated right now. The best! Reminds of Glass Castle.
It was fascinating, wasn’t it Lydia? I loved it!
I think they are all pretty easy to read. Just do them one or two chapters at a time!
Me too, Christie. I love a good book!
Let me know what you think about it Patrick. I think you will find it fascinating.
It was a great read! Hope you enjoy!
Sounds like a great read. Adding this to my TBR pile.
Happy WW, Teresa!
I will be reading Educated. Thanks for the tip. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thanks for the book recommendations! I’m always looking for a good read.
I love mysteries but find I’ve got less and less power to concentrate, do you think the Myron books are an easy read? I don’t do too well with bios but there are always exceptions. I used to be a fast reader but now am happy just to be reading.
I really enjoyed Educated. I thought it wasn’t going to be my thing – someone picked it for book club – and I devoured it quickly after the first few pages!
