The Faith-Filled Grandmother – A Giveaway

The Faith-Filled Grandmother

They say writing a book is like having a baby. I’m not sure I totally agree, but I know why they say that. The process is tedious and lonely at times. You feel like it will never be finished, even though you know it eventually will. And then when it finally arrives and is in your hands you have this wonderful feeling of accomplishment. You don’t love your book as much as you do your babies or grand-babies, of course, but it is a part of you.

When I started writing The Faith-Filled Grandmother I knew I wanted to include other grandmothers thoughts in my book. I don’t know everything about being a grandmother and there are a lot of wise women out there who have had experiences that I haven’t. I wanted their wit, wisdom and opinions.

Grandmothers Helped Me Write This Book

It wasn’t hard to get grandmothers to open their hearts, all I had to do was ask. I asked them about a lot of different topics on NanaHood’s Facebook Page  I also joined some Facebook groups and spoke with grandmothers there. Some of the topics we talked about that ended up being chapters in my book were The Long Distance Grandmother, The Grandmother Who Spoils, Grandmothers Who Worry, Grandmothers Who Raise Their Grandchildren, Grandmothers Who Aren’t Allowed to See Their Grandchildren, and Multi-generational Families Who Live Together. There are more but I think you can see why I needed the help of other grandmothers. We all deal with different circumstances.

Because so many grandmothers helped write this book I included them on the acknowledgement page.

Faith-Filled Grandmother

This book is for grandmothers and about grandmothers. My own grandmother, Grandma Layne, had a profound influence on her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a shining example of a “Faith-Filled Grandmother” and I miss her very much.

Perhaps you had a Grandma Layne in your life, or maybe you know someone who is going to be a new grandmother who could benefit from advice from women who are grandmothers and great-grandmothers now. Maybe you just love to read. Anyway, I hope you will order my book from Amazon (you can pre-order now) and whether you give it as a gift or keep it for yourself, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
