The Florida Keys-Part 11

Yesterday’s post was about our trip to the Keys. If you aren’t familiar with the Keys you may not realize how many there are and how long it takes to get from the beginning of them all the way to the end at Key West. Today the total land area of the Florida Keys is 137.3 square miles (356 sq km) and there are over 1700 islands. However, very few of these are populated and most are very small. Only 43 of the islands are connected via bridges. In total there are 42 bridges connecting the islands but the Seven Mile Bridge is still the longest.  In other words, they are bigger than you probably thought.

Here are some random shots of some of the entertainment at Mallory Square in Key West. Every night as the sun sets locals perform and tourists gather to watch. It’s like a huge party with strangers.

  6. Those all look really amazing, especially that gorgeous sunset you captured. However, I could have lived without seeing the one of the guy holding an anchor up by his earlobes. Ewww!
