The Square Grouper
One of my favorite places in the Florida Keys is a restaurant known as The Square Grouper. Located on Cudjoe Key, it’s in the lower Keys and is a great place to eat.
We ate their two years ago when we visited the Keys so when we went back this past January it was one of the first places we went. It was just as good as I remembered.
These little square things are Grouper Tots and they were delicious. My taste buds said they consisted of Grouper, mashed potatoes, bacon bits, and onions. There were probably more ingredients but that’s all I could recognize.
This is what my cousin had, Coconut Shrimp. She loved it!
This is a chicken finger salad with a raspberry vinaigrette.
Philly Steak and Cheese with chips and slaw. Yum!
The owner, Lynne Bell, was nice enough to sit down and chat with me about her restaurant. She’s been operating it for 13 years and is in the process of expanding. The upstairs is being renovated and soon there will be even more room to dine at the Square Grouper. This is a picture of the floor they are putting down. It’s old barn wood from a barn that was town down in (guess where?) Kentucky!
She is passionate about what she does and it’s obvious she cares deeply about the restaurant and the people who work there. Whatever she is doing is working and the next time I go back to the Keys I know the first place I will eat dinner-The Square Grouper on Cudjoe Key.
