Dogs Are Family

We are dog lovers and have an interesting collection of canines. Some have pedigrees and several came from the local shelter. My boys found one (someone had moved and left it chained) and brought it home. Buddy (a stray) found us and decided he liked us so much he would adopt us. We have so many that sometimes I think the dogs own the house and just allow us to live here. Murphy This is Murphy. He will be 14 in August. He is grouchy and sneaky. The minute we leave the kitchen he jumps on the table to search for crumbs. Even though he has no manners (he passes gas when he coughs) we love him anyway.   Bo This is Bo. I love him more now that he no longer is chewing up everything we own. He ate 4 or 5 television remotes (I lost count) and my husband’s computer keyboard. As you can see he is a tad bit spoiled. I love Bo dearly but I wish he didn’t shed. Everything I own has Bo hair on it. Abby and Kash This is my oldest granddaughter holding the puppy my son gave his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. Kash is half Golden Retriever and half Poodle and he doesn’t shed! He’s a cutie (and so is my granddaughter) but between you and me, I love having him come for a visit, but I’m glad he lives at the girlfriend’s house. He has a lot of chewing to do before he grows up! top_dog_quotes_best_friend Do you have fur babies? If so, do you think of them as family? This is a Blog Hop! I would love for you to link up and leave a comment!

  1. So sweet! We have two right now – Cobbler, my sweet black lab who is 8, and Bourbon, our olde English bulldogge. I have a hard time not wanting to bring in more and more of them. There are so many cute dogs out there! We’ve decided, though, that two are enough (we also have a cat – Blackberry – who weighs about 6 lbs and runs the house). Cobbie has some anxiety issues and Bourbon is jealous. i think Bourbon would be awful with another dog, and having to compete for attention from another doggie would probably leave my Cobbie permanently curled up in a ball in the bedroom.

  2. I love your blog and reading about your life. You are a true adventuress (is that a word?) Do keep in touch!

  3. Dogs have always been a part of my family from the time I was a little girl to today. Love your piece!

  4. I’m so glad I can comment now! Love your post! I’m a fellow animal lover/rescuer. God bless your son for bringing home the abandoned dog. He was raised well. (Your son, I mean! – and, I suppose, the dog too, once he came to live with you!)

  5. Same here, except we beat you by two! Six here, all rescued, most from trauma. Healthy, happy and spoiled here now!

  6. Our dog (and cats too) rule the house in our family–and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

  7. Love the fur babies. I’m very allergic to animal dander so we can’t have dogs, much to dear daughters regret.

  8. In our house it’s cats and we have 4, which is a ton. We have no more room or hands to pet them. They’re also very spoiled.

My fur’ family are long gone (in Australia), but now am finally settled in Scotland there’s a possibility another dog will appear in life…. not for a while though. Meanwhile I am an honourary aunty to a fair few dogs (and cats etc) who collectively are known as ‘Blogville’; we have mayors just elected and I hold the Office of Wellness and Concerns….. it’s a grand place to be!!! (clicking the OoWaC label will show you what has been happening there… or The J’s will show my darlings of yesteryear…)

Fur is fab when it has spring and a waggly tail &*> YAM xx
