Going to the Chapel

Posted by: teresak | Comments (1)

Besides graduations this month, it’s also a good month for weddings. Today my cousin’s youngest daughter, Brittany, marries the love of her love of her life, Brad. The wedding is in Florida at the church the two of them grew up attending. Years ago they were both in a youth group that came to Kentucky and helped host a Vacation Bible School at the church we attend. All the girls from the visiting congregation stayed at my brother’s house and a friend’s house, and the boys all stayed in my basement.  How strange it seems to me that the two of them are old enough to get married!

May they be blessed with good health and much happiness!

This week, I have family in town.  My brother and his wife and their three kids are staying with us for about five days.  Which adds up to a total of four adults and six kids.  Our house right now is LOUD!  And fun!  And busy!

Yesterday afternoon, the littlest kiddos were napping, and the four older ones and I decided to watch a movie.  We chose a classic – “Annie”.  Now, I just have to say, my brother and sister-in-law are doing a fabulous job of raising their children, because both of their girls new EVERY song and EVERY line of the movie.  It was… in a word… fabulous!

So, in the spirit of how much fun that way, today’s post is dedicated to movies and activities you can do surrounding movies.

Ok folks, I’m off to join in the fray that is my household today.  Happy Friday!

Think about it….

Would you like to buy a genuine fake watch? I suppose if the price is right I would be interested.

On I 65 North from my house there is a sign that says “Used Cows for Sale.” That one never fails to get a lot of attention.

Or what about this one?

I’m going to be thinking about that one for awhile!

Have a great Thursday and don’t put any garbage in your trash can!

Graduation Day

Posted by: teresak | Comments (1)

Odds are you know someone who is about to graduate. For me, it’s my nephew, Thomas.

thomasIt seems like just yesterday he was following me around saying, “Aunt Teresa, I’ll see you this rock for ten dodders.”

For all the graduates out there, I’d like to share one of my favorite poems with you and to wish you “Good luck.” And to Thomas I would like to say, “You are so very loved. Go forth and do good!”

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

A Walk At the End of the Day

Posted by: teresak | Comments (4)

gratituesdaynov094

I never have a problem thinking of something to be grateful for on Gratituesday; I know I am very blessed. Tonight as I was taking a walk down my driveway I started thinking about how easy it is to overlook life’s little blessings.  The fact that I am able to walk up and down my driveway is a blessing in itself, but there’s more. Instead of just telling you about it, I decided to go get my camera and show you what I mean.

There are several different wildflowers that are blooming in the fields around our house.

When you look across the field it looks like God scattered seeds of sunshine throughout the grass! And if that wasn’t enough then check this out.

If heaven smells better than a field full of honeysuckle I don’t think I will be able to stand it.

When I got back to the house I turned around for one last look and this is what I saw.

I looked up at the moon and thought about the song that says, “God is watching us from a distance.”

I believe that with all my heart, and for that I am oh so very grateful.
