Wake Up With A Cup of Coffee
My mom used to say her heart didn’t start beating well in the mornings until she had consumed her cup of coffee. She always put a little milk and sugar in it, stirred and sipped slowly. She wasn’t a morning person and she didn’t want to talk to anyone until after she’d had her breakfast (coffee and toast) and her bath (never a shower).
I drink two or three cups . I drink it black and tend to gulp, then I take a quick shower and grab a Pop Tart on my way out the door. I can speak coherently in the mornings, but I usually don’t have time to talk to anyone because I’m always late.
My husband, on the other hand, doesn’t require nearly as much sleep and can go and go on just a few hours and several cups of coffee. He’s always the navigator on our trips, even while the rest of snooze.
Over the years Bill and I have had many different kinds of coffee makers and we have managed to wear them all out. This morning our Bunn Brewer bit the dust. They just don’t make them to last anymore, do they?
I didn’t drink coffee until I was in college. Then I learned that if I had some in the morning I could get dressed and get to my eight o’clock on the other end of the campus and be awake when I got there!
My mom was a one cup girl and my dad abhorred java. I’m not sure why, but he was convinced it wasn’t good for you. Over the years there have been studies that said he was right. Too much caffeine is a bad thing, they say. And then another study would come along proving just the opposite. What’s a girl to do?
I’ll tell you what this gal is going to do. It’s morning. I’m tired. I’m going to go battle with the Bunn and see if I can’t coax at least one more cup of coffee out of it!
Thank you Cindy, for the comment and for visiting NanaHood!
Good idea, Susan. Thanks!
Don’t freshly ground coffee beans smell divine?
I looooooove coffee. In fact, I’ve been teased because most of my tweets or Facebook statuses include some reference to coffee. LOL
My advice is to try a French press. It’s not electric, so it can’t stop working. And the coffee is delicious. It doesn’t stay hot, of course, but that’s okay if you just drink a cup or two first thing in the morning.
This was REALLY one of the most comforting messages I’ve read in a LONG time! Ahhh… maybe it has something to do with me being a coffee addict and my husband a non-coffee drinker? At any rate, LOVED it!
