Viva Las Vegas (Minus Elvis)
Remember the movie Viva Las Vegas that Elvis Presley starred in with Ann Margret? I must have seen it at least one hundred times. Come to think of it, I saw all his movies that many times. So last week when I went to Vegas I have to admit that in the back of mind I was hoping I would run into Elvis.
Not the real Elvis, of course, but a look a like. I wanted to get a picture made with him. On the first day I got close to an Elvis impersonator. He was in a Chapel about to perform a wedding ceremony. I didn’t want to interrupt the couple getting married (actually they were renewing their vows after 55 years) I strolled on by. This is the couple I’m talking about and the blushing bride told me they had come all the way from Pennsylvania to renew their vows in front of Elvis. “It’s the Viva Las Vegas package,” she giggled. Aren’t they sweet?
ZAPPOS
There is so much to tell about my Vegas trip and the conference (#BAMC16) that it’s hard to know where to start. One of the fun things we did was to tour #Zappos offices and while that might not sound exciting, it really was. Why? Because I’ve been a fan of Zappos and #TonyHsieh for a long time. His business philosophy fascinates me and I couldn’t help but wonder if it would be reflected on site. It most definitely was. I’ve never seen a company that looks like it would be as much fun to work at as Zappos. If I were fresh out of college I’d be packing my bags and heading west with the hope I could work there.
And a big shout out to Erika Paman-Mercado from Zappos for being on our conference panel and for helping with our tour. I wanted to adopt her and bring her home to Kentucky but she declined. Don’t worry, Erika, you didn’t hurt my feelings. I’ll still be ordering shoes from you and would put your customer service department at the top of ALL customer service departments. Until you have seen them in action you just wouldn’t believe how awesome they are.
They really treated us like royalty! Seriously, just like royalty!
CHICO’S
It was wonderful to have Chico’s as a sponsor of the conference. Not only did they convince us all that we are “Fabulous.” They also had the most fun gif photo booth ever.
Thank you, Chico’s for making me feel #HelloI’mFabulous! And thank you for the great swag! I’m wearing my shades and bracelet and singing your praises every where I go! Midlife women adore Chico’s clothes and accessories!
Stay tuned for PART II of this post to find out if 1. I ever find Elvis 2. Who else sponsored the conference 3. If what happens in Vegas really STAYS in Vegas.
That looks like so much fun! I’d love to go to that.
Great! I’m so glad you came and so glad you enjoyed yourself! I loved putting faces with names!
I had a great time at the conference. It was nice to finally meet you – even though I had a hard time tracking you down (you were so busy!). The Chicos photo booth was a blast!
Thanks Jeanne!
Sound like a wonderful trip! Looking forward to seeing more pictures and hearing more about it!
