The Pinnacles at Berea, Kentucky
The Pinnacles
A few weeks ago we went to Berea and on the way home we stopped at the Pinnacles. We weren’t prepared to go hiking but it was a pretty day and we didn’t know when we would ever get back there so we picked the shortest trail and set off. I won’t go into a detailed history of The Pinnacles but it’s a beautiful place to go hiking and the history is fascinating. To read more about the different trails. just click here.  There was also a sign about bears but we didn’t see any. We did, however, see a lot of hikers with their pets. Unfortunately, when I looked at the trails I picked the shortest one…not necessarily the easiest one. My husband and I are inexperienced hikers (As in we only hike to the refrigerator and back) but we enthusiastically set off, not realizing that the trail we had chosen may have been the shortest trail but it was also the steepest. I had on tennis shoes but my husband had on loafers. By the end of the hike he would have blisters. The trail itself was beautiful. I can only imagine what it will look like in a few weeks when the trees change colors. Look at the roots on these trees. I think they have been there awhile, don’t you? And there were so many things to explore and see along the trail. I wasn’t brave enough to go back in this cave but I bet my grandchildren would have loved to explore it. The views were spectacular once we finally reached the top. We huffed and puffed a bit but we made it! My husband didn’t want me to stand too close to the edge for a very good reason. Kentucky is a beautiful state and if you love gorgeous scenery and hiking, The Pinnacles are a great place to go! This is a Blog Hop. Please link up and leave a comment. Do you like hiking? Where’s the best place you have ever hiked?
